Irish Peach apple

A real treat - the first of our apple donations arrived yesterday - this was an Irish Peach (yes it is an apple) from an old tree in Gargunnock near Stirling. Sadly these are the last crop off an ancient tree - but the good news is that we can replace this as we have it on our stocklist

the scent of these apples is terrific. I think one of the reasons I got hooked on apples was when I was at an Apple Day at Culzean Castle many years ago. The smell of apples hit me and is so wonderful. I have always loved old houses with apple stores and that smell of autumn ..

Irish Peach is a lovely tasting apple - very smooth, low acidity and very aromatic.
